HUGO THE HAPPY STARFISH - THE SECRET TO HAPPINESS Review

Hugo The Happy Starfish The Secret To Happiness by Suzy Liebermann

Meet HUGO the Happy Starfish!  In this book, Hugo is actually sad, and on a mission to find happiness.  The starfish goes through different experiences guided by suggestions from a wise friend in order to find happiness.  He realizes that the things he goes through only make him happy for a short time.  Then one day, he finds that the only thing that truly makes him happy is when he shares with others.

I thought this was a great book with a lot of character education.  My kids really enjoyed it, especially my 6 and 7 year old.  It really teaches the kids about positive attitudes and the positive outcomes that come from that.  They could really empathize and relate with the starfish.

I think this is a great teaching book as well.  It also includes some Spanish words in it, which I really appreciated the foreign language exposure as I try teach my kids a second language.

The book has beautiful and colorful illustrations

I really likes that when you get to the end of the story, there is a place for your kids to draw a picture of themselves helping someone or making someone happy and to write about it. This is a great way to get kids involved in practicing the lessons taught in the story.

Believing that happiness can be learned, feelings can be understood and that building character based on a positive attitude leads to happy, content, self-confident and successful human beings, Suzy Liebermann has created this exciting series of charming books about HUGO THE HAPPY STARFISH.
The series of books on character education aims to help educate children about their feelings, their attitude, their choices and the consequences that follow and includes an introduction to the Spanish language, lessons of character, ecological alertness and life skills—all amid a backdrop of a colorful island and mystical underwater world.
